Meet The Team

Iron Rock Group, LLC began July 1, 2021. Our story goes back many years as Iron Rock Engineering, Survey & Design was formed in December of 2014.

We currently employ eighteen full-time personnel with various technical and professional backgrounds. Our integrated approach brings together architects, civil engineers, structural engineers, MEP specialists, surveyors, and testing professionals under one roof.

Thomas W. Avant, PE, SE, PLS

CEO

Tom has evolved and grown with the company over the past 20+ years. He originally began drafting house plans and doing field tests before moving into design and engineering. He obtained a Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering and a Master's Degree in Structural Engineering, allowing him to get his PE, SE, and PLS licenses.

Joshua D. Beazer, EIT

Vice President - Civil

With an engineering degree from USU and a background in construction and engineering, Josh has built a solid career. His experience working in California, Alaska, and his years with the company add valuable insight and expertise. Josh says, "Kanab is one of the greatest places on earth."

R. Michael Downward, PE

Vice President - Structural

Mike earned his Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering from the University of Utah. After working for a large structural engineering firm in Las Vegas, Mike joined TC Engineering, PC in January of 2007. He brings a strong background with experience and knowledge in all things structural.

Chris Heaton

Vice President - Development

Chris combines friendly, hometown charm with professionalism. As one of the favorite team members, Chris is always willing to jump in and assist in whatever project needs attention. Chris began his time with Iron Rock as a valued member of our surveying crew with tremendous surveying experience.

Vice President - Architecture

Architect and Vice President of Architecture at Iron Rock Group. Matt leads the architectural design team, bringing creative vision and technical expertise to every project from concept to completion.
